The Great Bull Escape

Curriculum > 2008/09 > English Stories

One day I was in Ballingarry and I saw some people jumping over a gate into a field. There was a bull in the field. The people started setting off fireworks. The bull got mad and he started running after them. They got back over the gate but the bull ran right through it and ran down the road after them.
The bull ran into shops and knocked things over. He almost hit a shopkeeper. Then he ran into the GAA field and ran straight into the shed. He broke part of the shed. Then he went back up the street. He hit a pole and fell on the ground. Everybody came out of their houses and looked at the bull.
Soon he was back in his field and everybody was safe. The shops were back to normal and it was like nothing had ever happened. I went home and told my mammy and daddy but they wouldn't believe me. They found out a day later because they were talking to a few people and then they believed me. The next time I was in Ballingarry the bull had gone to the factory.

It was when I was playing outside that I first heard the yells 'Help the bull has escaped to the main road'.
'I know what to do' I said to myself. I ran to get Farmer Brown. I bumped into him on the way.
'Let's get the tractor to scare him back into his field' he said.
'That's just what I was about to say' I said.
Our plan worked. Within minutes everything was back to normal.

In a village called Ballingarry there was a boy called Fiachra. We were playing soccer together. I took a shot on him and the ball went out into the field. Michael McGrath owned the field. I went into the field to get the ball. I saw a bull and I ran away without closing the gate. The bull ran after myself and Fiachra. We were hiding behind a bush. Everyone in the village closed their doors. Michael McGrath was mad.

There is a farm in Thomastown. The man who possesses the farm is Billy Tobin. He has a hundred bulls. One day someone came to the farm and forgot to close the gate. Two bulls escaped. They ran into Thomastown. One went into SuperValu and knocked over some food so the farmer came in and shot him.
