Silly Sock Day - Wednesday 27th January
A while back an earthquake struck Haiti. They also got an aftershock. Their houses were knocked down. They had no food because their shops were knocked down too.
We wanted to raise money for Haiti so Miss Shanahan thought up of 'Silly Sock Day'.
We had to make silly socks and we had to bring in at least €2 to school. I made dog socks out of slipper socks. We had a fashion show. We made a catwalk and we had to strike a pose at the bottom of it. Mrs Maher was the audience. Even Sir had silly socks.
In total the school raised €278.11 for Haiti.

Last week Mr Gleeson told us that we would be having a 'Silly Sock Day' to raise money for Haiti. Miss Shanahan thought up of the idea. We made posters to put up around the school. We had to bring in a donation of €2 or more.
We waited for the day to be finally here. I was up very early to get my socks ready for school. When I got to school I was amazed at everyone's socks. There were bright ones, colourful ones, stripey ones, loud ones and some socks wore SUNGLASSES! Then Mr Gleeson walked into the room. He had 'Ouch' written on one sock and 'Bam' written on the other.
He said that we could do a fashion show. We had a catwalk down the middle of the class. We had to pose for Mrs Maher at the end of the runway. Mr Gleeson went on the runway first. It was the funniest thing in the world. I'd say that Mrs Maher was a little frightened with all the poses.
At break time we did 'Monkee Walk' for the camera. It's up on the homepage.
- Katie Cleere, 4th Class
