Our Trip To Lapland

Curriculum > 2008/09 > English Stories

Last week, on Sunday the 14th. December, our family went to see Santa in his home in Lapland. We stayed for two nights. When we arrived we couldn't believe the amount of snow all around us. There were even icicles hanging from the street lights. We had a great laugh playing in the snow. Kealy made a massive snowball to throw at Daddy. Cormac and Ciaran went very fast down the hill on taboggans. It was great fun. Even our Mammy and Daddy joined in!

The next day we went searching for Santa. Along the way we got rides on reindeer sleigh and a group of husky dogs pulled us along the snow through the forest. We met four of Santa's elves called Snowy Bowy, Tricky Dickey, Noisey Nod and Speedy Sam. They were funny. Tricky Dickey played a lot of tricks on us. Snowy Bowy was beautiful and loved to decorate the trees for Christmas. Noisy Nod had a big bell. He always fell asleep wherever he could, even in the snow! Someone would have to ring his bell to wake him up. Speedy Sam was always in a hurry.

We got a ride across a frozen lake on a jet ski. It was freezing cold.

Finally on our last day we found Santa's house. It was a lovely timber log house. He told us to come in and he read our letters. He was very nice. He gave us one present each that we had on our lists. Ciaran got a stretchy Scooby Doo, Cormac got a John Deere truck and a harvester and Kealy got a make-up set. We told him where Ballingarry is so he won't forget us all.

We said goodbye to Santa and his elves. We were sad to leave 'cos we had a great time. You all need to go to bed early Christmas Eve because Santa will have a very busy night. We hope he brings everyone something nice.
