Monday, 9th March
There will be a Staff Planning Day on Monday 16th March. Children will have no school. They will return to school on Wednesday 18th March.
Easter Holidays
Children will go home at 12 noon on Friday 3rd April and return to school on Monday 20th April.

Bag Pack
Bag Packing in Dunnes Stores, Thurles on next Thursday 4th., Friday 5th. and Saturday 6th. of December. We need more help from parents please!
This fundraising event is vital - it will enable children to participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception
There will be no school for children on December 8th.

Cookery Course starting Wednesday 3rd. December from 10 -12:30 for the next three Wednesdays for the parents of children in Junior Infants to 3rd Class. As this is the first official event in our beautiful new kitchen, it would be fantastic if you could join us.

Tuesday, 25th November
Big Sing
On Thursday next the children from St Joseph's will take part in 'Big Sing 2008'. They will come together with schools from across Ireland in a Guinness World Record breaking attempt at the 'largest simultaneous sing-a-long' and at the same time raising funds for Special Olympics Ireland and Childline.
We would ask each child to bring in €1 towards Special Olympics. The 'Big Sing' will start at 2.45pm so we would remind parents to leave Junior Infants in school until 3pm.
Wednesday, 19th November
Bag Pack
The Parents Council are organising a bag pack in Dunnes Stores, Thurles on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th of November for St. Joseph's NS. Parents interested in helping please contact a member of the Parents Council. All help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a staff meeting on wednesday next, 5th. November. Children will go home at 1:45pm

Parent/Teacher Meeting
Please note the time for your parent/teacher meeting on Wednesday next, Oct 22nd. Please let the school know if you are not attending.
Clonmel Museum
Pupils from 4th. to 6th. Class will visit South Tipperary County Museum on Thursday next, October 23rd to meet Jonathon Bradshaw who will talk about his experiences as a member of the Irish expedition to the South Pole. Cost of the talk is €3.00, contribution towards the bus €2.00. Total cost €5.00 per child.
Book Fair
From Tuesday children may bring money to buy a book in the book fair. Parents are welcome to come and browse also on Tuesday or Wednesday - please call to the office for assistance. Mrs Maher and Ms Kerwick will be in the library to assist with the Book Fair during the Parent/Teacher meetings.
Junior Room Reading Programme
Funds raised by last year's Open Evening have paid for books for an exciting new reading programme in the Junior Room. To ensure that these books last we need to cover them. Please try to give some time to do this next week. All help greatly appreciated.

Lunches
We will have sample lunches from Carambola Catering in the school tomorrow. Parents can call into the school up to 12 noon to sample same.
Change of Date for Confirmation Enrolment
The date for the Confirmation Enrolment Mass has been changed to next Saturday night at 7pm.
Requisites
A small number of parents have still not paid their requisites money (ie for Arts and crafts, photocopying, standardised tests etc.). We would appreciate it if the money could be paid as soon as possible as we need to settle the school accounts. Thank you.

Shoe Box Appeal
It's that time of the year again! We welcome all donations for this most needy cause, enabling children to help children. A box per child, per family, between friends or even a donation to a class box....whatever people find suitable.

Science and Engineering Show.
The 'Extreme Engineering Show' will take place in Tipperary Institute, Thurles on next Thursday the 9th of October. The content of this show has been developed to compliment the SESE Primary School Curriculum. Children from 2nd. to 6th. Class will attend. The cost per child is €2 which is a contribution towards the cost of bus hire.

School Lunches
Carambola Catering will call to the school next Wednesday 8th. October with sample lunches. Parents of children who are availing of the school lunch are welcome to come in and sample lunches.

Cross Country Running
Our school is taking part in the Primary Schools Cross Country Championships in Thurles on Wednesday October 1st. The competition starts at 11am and continues until about 2:30pm. It will be held in the grounds of Thurles Crokes Athletic Club on the Nenagh Road.
It would be more than appreciated if some parents could attend. A bus will leave the school at 10:15am on which seats will be available for parents.

First Communion
Enrolment ceremony for First Communion Children will take place at 10:30am Mass this Sunday. Please ensure that both parents and the child are present. Please bring along the Enrolment Form.
School Lunches
Lunch funding has finally been sanctioned. We intend to contact Caranbola Catering with a view to them providing the lunches this year.

The insurance forms have been sent out today. Please return the completed forms along with the appropriate amount as soon as possible.

School Calendar 2008/09
Music
Tin Whistle classes will resume with Ms. Martina McGarry on Tuesday next, September 9th. Classes will cost €3.00 per session. Tin Whistles will be available from the office for €6.00
Tracksuit
The tracksuit lady will be calling to the school on Friday next, September 5th at 10:30am. All children who have ordered tracksuits need to bring the balance owed with them on the day.
School Insurance
Once again your child will have the option of insurance cover while in school or for 24hr cover. As soon as we have details we will send out the insurance forms
School Requisites
Just a reminder to parents to send in school requisites money as soon as possible. School requisites cover the cost of photocopying, art materials and standardised assessment forms.
