We had to reposition our compost bin this year as it got knocked over during the Christmas holidays. We had to clear away the sod first to encourage the worms up into the compost. We then secured the bin with clay. We add to our compost bin every day and once a week we add wet paper towels and grass cuttings.

We received five trees from South Tipperary County Council in March '09. It's hard work finding time in between the showers to plant them but we are getting there. We have planted a rowan, an ash and an oak already and we hope to plant a copper beech and a hazel soon.

In a bid to help the Junior Room students to understand how to separate their rubbish properly the children of the Middle Room devised board games showing them how. To be honest I don't think the Junior Room students really needed any help it's just their older friends saw an opportunity to do some art and have a bit of fun.

While on teaching practice in our school, past pupil and student teacher Miss Ruth Dunne stayed true to our Green-Schools ethos. She asked the children to rescue boxes, bottles and containers of all shapes and sizes from the bin and give them a new lease of life in her art lesson.
