The Book
Flat Stanley is a book about a boy who was flattened one night by a giant billboard that fell down on top of him. Stanleys parents Mr and Mrs Lambchop are always finding good uses for their son's abilities whether it is turning him into a kite, putting him down grates or using him as a sail for a boat.
The author of Flat Stanley is Jeff Brown and the illustrator is Scott Nash.
-Ciara McGovern, 5th Class
The Project
Because Stanley is flat his parents find that he can be posted to distant places. This idea gave rise to various Flat Stanley 'Projects' where children and indeed adults the world over have taken to making their own Flat Stanleys and posting them to other people along with a journal where Stanley can keep track of his adventures. Stanley and his journal are then returned before being dispatched elsewhere.
The Senior Classes in St Joseph's decided to send their Flat Stanleys to famous people requesting a photograph of them holding Stanley. It was a long shot but you'd never know it just might work.

The Results
Adam and Darren received replies from Arsenal FC. No photos of Flat Stanley I'm afraid but they both recieved signed Arsenal pictures. Well done The Gooners.
We did receive word from Brian Cowan's office that Flat Stanley had arrived safely but no more than that.....I suppose he does have a country to run...Brian that is....not Stanley.
ICE presenter Sinead Kennedy came up trumps and sent Leanne not one but two photos of Stanley being shown the ropes at RTE. She even got fellow presenter Rob Ross into one of the photos in which he was holding Aine's Flat Stanley as well as Leanne's.
Roddy Doyle's office was the destination for Conor's Flat Stanley and the great author wasted no time in emailing back a lovely photo.
Thank you to those who took the time to take part in our little project. Your emails and letters were a cause of great delight and excitement here in St Joseph's and you have earned yourselves fans for life.
