On Thursday, October 9th. students from 2nd to 6th Class went to the Tipperary Institute for the Extreme Engineering show hosted by Sue McGrath. There were thrills, spills and explosions a plenty as the children got to see the science behind the everyday machines they use and take for granted.
Here Ciara and Maria tell us about the show:
We left the school at 10 o'clock and arrived in Thurles half an hour later. We went and took our seats and the show began. First of all the lady did a trick with a vacuum
cleaner and it was pretty amazing. My personal favourite was at the very end when she used a thing kind of like a lighter and popped a balloon which was briiaint because the lights went out just as soon as the balloon popped. Lisa went up on a 'Girls v Boys' rocket launcher challenge but unfortunately lost twice. Oh well we all know that girls rule!
At the very end we got free blue pens and lovely pink badges. I loved that science show and I hope we see another one soon.

On October 9th we went to the Tipperary Institute to see the STEPS Extreme Engineering show. It was really good fun. My favourite bit was when she got fire and she had a balloon and she burst the balloon with the fire. We didn't know what she was going to do and we got a really big fright. There was a skeleton there called Fred. If you got called up you would get a yo-yo or a frisbee. A few people from our school got called up. Me, Lauren and Katie were in the front row. The girl was called Sue McGrath.
