Christmas Carol Service

Activities > 2008/09

On Tuesday 16th of December we performed a Christmas play called 'The Ugly Spider'. Katie was the 'Spider'. Aoife was 'Mary' and Thomas was 'Joseph'. The angels were Ciara, Saoirse, Emma and Michaela. The shepherds were Michael, Anna, and Aaron. The Three Kings were Jordan, Sean and AJ. The innkeepers were Ben, Sophia, Ciara and Nicole. After the play we performed a Carol Service. We sang 'Jingle Bells', 'Silent Night', 'The First Noel', 'Angels We Have Heard On High', 'Away In A Manger' and 'Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town'. It was very good.

On Tuesday the 16th of December 2008 we had a Christmas Carol Service and we put on a play called 'The Ugly Spider'. We played our tinwhistles. Lisa and Aine played the accordian and Adam, Rory, Darren and Lisa played Silent Night on guitar. Conor played the bongos.
The play was about a spider that nobody liked. When she was shooed away from the inn she went to live in the stable. Some strangers came in from the cold. This was Mary and Joseph. In the morning a baby had come and so had the angels, shepherds and kings. This was the spider's chance so she made a warm blanket of cobweb and gave it to the Baby Jesus.
-Gerard O'Dwyer, 4th Class

Before the play some senior members of the school played the tin whistle. After the play the whole school sang some of the best known Christmas carols. Myself and another group sang Silent Night. Shannon Dunne was very brave to sing a verse in Irish. we all had a great day. When we went back to school afterwards we watched 'The Polar Express' on DVD. The teachers gave us a lot of sweets. We also got a box of Roses from Marie Clancy for taking part in the Shoe Box Appeal. When I got home my mother said that we were all excellent.
