Ballingarry
Ballingarry is a small parish in South East Tipperary next to the Kilkenny border. Nearly 1,000 people live there.Clonmel Thurles and Kilkenny are nearby towns. Our village is in the Slieveardagh Hills which are not far from Slievenamon. The Warhouse in Ballingarry was the scene of the 1848 Rebellion and the Irish flag was flown for the very first time in our parish. There is also a history of coal mining in the area.
According to CSO Ballingarry village had a population of 129 in 2006. Females outnumber males 61 to 69.
In 2002 the population of the village was 314. This represents a drop of 58.9% in the space of only 4 years.
