Adopt A Monster

Activities > 2007/08 > Projects

The Adopt a Monster Project was devised as a fundraiser for our recent Open Evening. It was undertaken by the children in the Middle Room and it involved the creation of a monster which then could be adopted by parents for the princely sum of €5.
First of all the chidren were asked to sketch their monster on a piece of paper. Once they were happy with their design the monster was made out of clay. After air drying for about five days the monsters were painted.
The next stage was to create an identity for each monster. The children were asked to make a passport for their monstrous creations including such vital information as name, address, place of birth, date of birth etc. A passport 'photo' was then drawn and then stuck into the passport. A letter was then written on the monster's behalf by each child seeking adoption by their own parents.
During the Open Evening parents were invited into the Middle Room where they were given their child's monster passport and using only the passport 'photo' had to identify the correct monster and then pay €5 to adopt it
You will be delighted to know that most of the monsters were successful in their quest to be adopted with 21 adoptions taking place in all.
