Who we are....
St Joseph's National School Parents Council are an active group of parents who provide a link between school and home. We are affiliated to the National Parents Council. Members attend meetings and workshops throughout the year. Meetings are held regularly in a room in Amby's Lounge.

What we do...
One of the main services we provide is the 'Rent a Book Scheme'. School books are rented out to parents at a nominal cost. This involves the collection of books, checking through them, buying new books when necessary and sorting the books into bundles ready for each child. This process is carried out over four or five nights. Books are ready for collection in early August.
We also organise insurance cover for the children in the school through Allianz and with the help of the school secretary Rose Gahan and the teachers. Children can be covered for the school day for a premium of €5.00. 24 hour cover is also available for €8.00.
Council members help with school activities e.g. tours, swimming, sports day etc.

Activities in 2008
On June 19th the school had a Family Open Evening where the parents and teachers organised a fun day which included sack races, three legged races and a penalty shoot out with James Logue whom we would like to sincerely thank for giving us his time. A raffle of such items as an Ireland jersey and football boots signed by Shane Long and Tipperary jerseys signed by the team was held and refreshments were served. We had great weather and a fun evening was had by all.
On October 20th. a Family Concert was held in the Community Hall. We organised a door prize and a raffle containing amongst other items a Hallowe'en hamper, vouchers, sports equipment and High School Musical merchandise. It was a very enjoyable and entertaining evening.

Staff Changes
The Parents Council would like to wish Mrs Rosanne Corcoran and Ms Una Crowe a happy retirement and we would like to thank them for all their years of teaching in the school. We would also like to wish Mrs Natascha O'Brien and Mrs Cecelia Webster all the best in their new jobs.
