Rainbow Programme End Of Year Celebration Monday, June 22nd.
Sr. Teresa and her team of parents rounded off a successful programme with a special celebration for the participants today.

Moving On Ceremony Friday, June 19th.
Our Moving On Ceremony for our departing Sixth Class students was celebrated by Fr Breen and attended by parents and families.

Soccer Match Thursday, June 18th.
A squad of 15 made the short trip to Slieveardagh N.S. to take on their neighbours in a friendly. An entertaining game finished 3-2 to Slieveardagh with our two goals coming from the boot of Conor Ivors.

School Tour Thursday, June 11th.
Two buses whisked the students and staff of St Joseph's off to Dublin early this morning. First stop was the National Museum at Collins Barracks followed by a picnic and a visit to the playground at the Phoenix Park. The zoo was arguably the highlight of the day but judging by the happy faces in McDonalds afterwards some would beg to differ.

New Entrants Day Wednesday, June 10th
Mrs Egan welcomed seven young boys and girls into her classroom as taster of things to come when they start school in September.

Open Afternoon and Flag Raising Ceremony Tuesday, June 9th.
Parents and families got the chance to look around the school before Fr Breen blessed the raised beds and footballer Shane Long raised our Green Flag.

Raised Beds Thursday, 28th May
Many hands proved to make light work as our students took to their beds....raised beds that is and planted flowers, vegetables and fruit. The entire school took part in a day of green fingers and dirty fingernails.

Green Flag Presentaion Thursday, 28th May
Ciara McGovern, Conor Ivors, Adam Kealy and Mr Gleeson travelled to The Lifetime Lab in Cork to collect our hard earned Green Flag.

National Assessment Tests May 21st and May 22nd.
St Joseph's N.S. was one of the schools selected to take part in the National Assessment Tests. Students from 2nd and 6th Class sat tests in both Maths and English the results of which will go to helping the Department Of Education assess the current standards of education.

Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Championship Wednesday, 20th May
St Joseph's N.S. were well beaten by Ballagh N.S. in Clonoulty today. On the plus side there were promising displays from some of our younger players.

Stepping Into Kilkenny's History Launch Tuesday, 19th May
Mrs Noonan attended the launch of local history project 'Stepping Into Kilkenny's History'. The project was launched by President McAleese.

Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Championship Friday, 15th May
St Joseph's N.S. were beaten by Moyglass N.S. in a high scoring encounter. With both teams already out of the Championship it was decided to play 13 a-side in order to give as many players a run as possible. The final score was 3-8 to 9-2.

Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Championship Wednesday, 12th May
A brave St Joseph's N.S. side went down 1-3 to 6-2 to a strong Lismackin N.S. team in an entertaining first round match at The Ragg.

Rainbow Programme Ends Wednesday, 6th May
Sr. Teresa's Rainbow Programme ended today. An end of year celebration for the participants will follow before the summer holidays.

First Holy Communion Saturday, 2nd May
The nine students of Second Class had their big day today. Fr Breen celebrated a lovely ceremony in front of a large crowd in the Church of the Assumption.

Green-Schools 'Day of Action' Friday, 1st May
St Joseph's N.S. students took to the streets once more to help tidy up Ballingarry. Children from all classes did their bit picking up litter around the village.

Confirmation Day Thursday, 30th April
Archbishop Clifford confirmed 18 St Joseph's N.S. students in a lovely ceremony this morning in the Church of the Assumption.

Green-Schools Assessment Wednesday, 29th April
St Joseph's N.S. welcomed Marie Grant to the school to assess our application for the coveted Green Flag. Ms Grant spoke to the Committee before visiting all the classrooms. She complemented the students on their efforts and their knowledge of all things 'green'. We nervously await her decision.

GAA 125 Friday, 24th April
The rain put paid to our plans of celebrating 125 years of the GAA with our neighbouring schools at O'Sullivan Park. Nonetheless there were many GAA themed activities during the day albeit indoors.

Ceremony of Light Wednesday, 22nd April
The Confirmation class celebrated the Ceremony of Light in the church this evening

Swimming Monday, 20th April
The students eased into the summer term by hitting the pool. Today was the first of eight sessions in Clonmel swimming pool.

Easter Holidays Friday 3rd April
St Joseph's closed its doors for the Easter holidays today. School resumes on Monday 20th of April. Happy Easter everyone.

Miss Dunne is done! Thursday 2nd. April
There was sadness in the Middle Room when Miss Dunne's three week teaching practice came to an end. We wish her all the best in what we feel will be a successful teaching career.

Photographer Wednesday, 1st April
The photographer came to the school today to take the childrens' photos. No really he did!

Planting Trees Tuesday, 31st March
A rowan tree and an ash tree were planted at the front of the school by Mr Gleeson and some of his students.

Darren Prout - All Ireland Champion Monday, 30th March
6th Class student Darren Prout was a cause of great celebration today when he came into school with two Irish Athletic Association medals. Darren won Gold in the 60m hurdles creating an Irish record in the process. He also picked up a silver medal in the long jump. Well done Darren, we're very proud of you.

Easter Ground Hurling Blitz Friday, 27th March
Scoil Ruain in Killenaule once again offered local Primary Schools the use of their fantastic all weather pitch for their Easter Ground Hurling Blitz. 10 5th and 6th Class students travelled to take part in what was a very well run and enjoyable competition.

Library Visit Wednesday, 25th March
5th and 6th Class visited The Source Library in Thurles this afternoon for an audience with popular poet Terry McDonagh.

Diocesan Inspector's Visit Wednesday, 25th March
We received a visit from Fr Tynan today. He visited all three classrooms where the students were eager to showcase stories, songs and art work from the Alive O programme.

First Penance Tuesday, 24th March
Our nine Second Class students received the Sacrament of First Penance this evening in the church. Accompanied by their parents the students took part in a lovely ceremony celebrated by Fr. Breen. Well done to them all.

Confession Friday, 20th March
Fr Breen heard confessions today down in the church.

Miss Dunne Wednesday, 11th March
St Joseph's welcomed past pupil and student teacher Ruth Dunne to the school today. She is to spend three weeks teaching the children of 2nd, 3rd and 4th Class.

New Trees Friday 6th March
To celebrate National Tree Week the South Tipperary County Council gave St. Joseph's five new trees. The copper beech, oak, ash, rowan and hazel saplings will be planted around the school in the coming days.

World Book Day Thursday 5th. March
World Book Day was celebrated in all the classrooms today. Storytime, silent reading, shared reading, book reports and show and tell of favourite books were the order of the day. The students also got to try out the new beanbags in the recently revamped library. Very comfortable apparently.

Green-Schools Application Friday 27th February
St Joseph's sent off their application for their first Green Flag today. Fingers crossed that all the hard work will pay off.

Shrove Tuesday Tuesday 24th. February

The kitchen facilities in our Parents Room were in full use today as Ms Kerwick and Mrs Maher held a masterclass in pancake flipping. All the children got to make and enjoy their own pancakes under the careful eyes of our resident 'Masterchefs'. Well done to the students of Fifth and Sixth Class who prepared the mixture for their younger friends. (photos)


Back To School Monday 23rd. February
Refreshed after their week off the students and staff of St Joseph's returned to the books and in some cases the kitchen. There were reports of strange and wonderful smells eminating from the new kitchen. Perhaps all will be revealed tomorrow......

Mid-term Break Friday 13th. February
Friday the 13th. proved to be quite lucky for the students of St. Joseph's as it was the day they received their mid-term break. The Junior Room students were unwilling to let St Valentine's Day go unmarked and made Rice Krispie Buns and Marshmallow Treats for everyone in the school to celebrate the day.

St Brigid's Day 1st. February
The Senior Room students made St Brigid Crosses in their own room and then visited the other classrooms to show the younger children how to do it.

Recycling Thursday, 29th Janurary
50 bags of used clothing and 22 old mobile phones were collected from the school today by recycling company Lenrec. The school will continue to collect old mobile phones and empty ink cartridges for recycling as part of its 'Green Schools' effort.

Hurling Training 23rd. Janurary
We were delighted to welcome our new hurling coach, Don Lyons to the school today. Don will coach all the children from 2nd to 6th Class.

School Holidays 23rd December
The school closed for the Christmas holidays today. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students, parents and friends a happy Christmas. See you all in 2009!

New Teacher - Mrs Murphy 22nd December
The St Joseph's School Community are delighted to welcome Mrs Murphy to the school. Mrs Murphy is the new shared Learning Support Teacher.

Carol Service 16th December
The students of St Joseph's held a Carol Service in the Church Of The Assumption for their parents and friends.

Fund Raising Bag Pack 4th, 5th and 6th December
The Parents Council would like to thank those people who gave of their time to help raise valuable funds for the school.

Cookery Course Wednesday, 3rd December
Ms. O'Sullivan hosted the first of three cookery courses in our brand new Parents Room (photos)

Healthy Eating Talk Monday, 1st December
Aideen from school lunch catering company Carambola visited the classrooms to talk to the children about developing healthy eating habits.

Science Quiz Thursday 13th November
Well done to Adam Kealy, Aine Walton, Darren Prout and Rory Hayes for their excellent performance in the Scoil Ruain Science Quiz. They managed to come fourth out of a total of 26 teams.

Class Of The Month Tuesday 4th November
Congratulations to the Senior Room who were awarded Class of the Month for October. The senior students impressed the teachers with their good behaviour particularly during rehersals for the recent concert.

Nurse Visit Monday 3rd November
The Health Nurse visited the school today to test the sight and hearing of our Infants.

Ms Crowe's Last Day Friday 24th October
Ms Crowe got an emotional send off from the children on what was effectively her last day at St Joseph's. We wish her all the best in her retirement. (more)

Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoebox Appeal Friday 24th October
Thank you to all the families who sent in shoeboxes again this year. The boxes were collected from the school today.

School Game Playing Day Friday 24th October
Today was School Game Playing Day and the children celebrated by wearing Hallowe'en fancy dress and bringing their board games into school. €112 was raised for school funds. Thank you to all who supported this fundraising effort. (more)

Jonathan Bradshaw Thursday 23rd October
Students from 4th to 6th Class got the opportunity to meet Antarctic explorer Jonathan Bradshaw in Clonmel Museum today. Jonathan was part of the first Irish expedition to reach the South Pole and he delighted the children with details of this great achievement.

Parent/Teacher Meetings Wednesday 22nd October
Parents got the chance to discuss issues with the teachers this afternoon. Many thanks to the students and parents who helped to cover books during the afternoon.

Peter Kearney's Family Concert Monday 20th October
A large crowd attended the much anticipated Family Concert down in the hall this evening and were rewarded with a very entertaining performance from Peter and our students. (more)

Peter Kearney Monday 20th October
Peter Kearney came to the school today to work on the songs that the children have been learning for him for the past month. The children worked from 11:00am to 3:00pm perfecting the songs and adding percussion and actions in anticipation of tonights concert.

Confirmation Class Retreat Friday 17th October
Fifth and Sixth Class joined their friends from the other three parish schools at a special retreat held in the Community Hall in preparation for their Confirmation this year.

Scholastic Book Fair Thursday 16th October
The Scholastic Book Fair arrived in the school today. Hundreds of books plus various stationary and posters will be on sale in the school library from tomorrow to Thursday. Parent's day on Wednesday.

School Lunches Monday 13th October
The first batch of Carambola lunches were delivered to the school today. The children will be getting sample lunches all this week until their own individually tailored menus start operating on Monday 20th.

Peter Kearney's Family Concert - One week to go! Monday 13th. October
Only one week to go until the big day. All the children are currently working hard on learning the songs and are eagerly awaiting Peter's visit to the school on Monday morning. Peter will work with the children all day helping to perfect their performances for the concert that evening.

Class of the Month Friday 10th. October
The Middle Room were the proud winners of the September Class of the Month. Patrick Walton accepted the trophy on behalf of his classmates who had put in a huge effort in keeping their cloakroom tidy all month. The lucky students will also get two nights off homework as part of their prize.

Extreme Engineering Show Thursday 9th October
The Senior Room and the Middle Room went to the Tipperary Institute in Thurles for the Extreme Engineering Show. They enjoyed an explosive hour of bottle rockets, robotic skeletons, bazookas and air blasters. (more)

Kilcooley Abbey Thursday 9th. October
Liam Noonan brought the Middle and Senior Room students on an informative and fun guided tour of Kilcooley Abbey. The students were also shown the Palatine Graveyard and they made some interesting rubbings of the carvings in the Abbey. (more)

School Lunches Wednesday 8th. October
Carambola Catering Company called to the school today to deliver samples of their school lunches. Parents who called in to see the lunches were quite pleased at the quality and variety of healthy fare on offer.

Cross Country Running Wednesday 1st. October
Twenty six boys and girls from 3rd Class up represented St. Joseph's today at the Tipperary Schools Cross Country Running Championships in Thurles today. (more)

National Ploughing Championships 23rd - 25th September
The National Ploughing Championships were held in nearby Cuffesgrange. Many of our students were among the large crowds which attended the event. (more)

Music Lessons Tuesday 16th September
Children from 2nd to 6th Classes can avail of music lessons again this year. Martina McGarry will continue to teach tin whistle to 2nd. Class upwards while from 4th. Class up students have also the option to learn the guitar or the accordian. Guitar lessons will be given this year by Timmy Lawlor.

New Tracksuits Thursday 4th. September
The 'Tracksuit Lady' came to the school today to deliver a fresh new batch of tracksuits to the St Joseph's students.

Ms Sheila O'Sullivan Wednesday 3rd. September
We are delighted to welcome Ms. Shelia O'Sullivan to the staff of St. Joseph's. Ms. O'Sullivan takes up the position of Rural Co-ordinator. We look forward to working with her.

Mrs O'Brien's Last Day Tuesday 2nd September
The St. Joseph's school community sadly waved goodbye to Mrs O'Brien today as she left to take up a position in nearby Mohober N.S. We wish her all the best in her new job and we thank her for all her hard work over the past three years.

Mrs Corcoran's Retirement Party Friday 29th August
People gathered tonight to pay tribute to Mrs Rosanne Corcoran on the occasion of her retirement from teaching after a career of 41 years. More

First Day of Term Thursday 28th. August
St. Joseph's re-opened it's doors for the new term today. Mrs. Egan welcomed seven new Junior Infants into her classroom.
