Summer Holidays June 26th. 2008
St Joseph's closed their doors for the summer giving their students a well earned break. All we need now is some decent weather!

Sports and Fun Day June 24th. 2008
The St Joseph's annual Sports and Fun Day took place between the showers today ensuring that the children went home tired, wet but happy. Thank you to our many past students who turned up to help on the day.

Splashworld June 23rd. 2008
Mrs. Noonan and Mrs. Maher treated the outgoing Sixth Class to a trip to Splashworld in Tramore. They were accompanied by the students of Fourth and Fifth who were the winners of last year's Class of the Year Award.

Clonmel Museum Visit June 20th. 2008
As a thank you for their contribution to the Mines Of Information project all classes were invited to explore the County Museum in Clonmel. There the students got to see their own work being exhibited alongside the Polish Flint Mining exhibit and the permanent exhibition. Afterwards Katie Goodhue was presented with a bunch of flowers and a thank you card signed by all the children in appreciation for all the work she has done with us this year.

Open Evening June 19th. 2008
A fantastic night was had by all at our Open Evening at the school. Thank you to everyone who got involved. In all €1366 was raised for the school.

Surprise Visitor - Shane Long June 19th. 2008
Irish International and Reading star Shane Long along with his mother Anne were very welcome visitors to our school yesterday. Shane answered lots of questions, signed lots of autographs and very generously donated his jersey from the Colombia game and a pair of boots to our Open Evening Raffle. Many thanks Shane and best of luck for the new season.

PAWS Presentation June 18th. 2008
John Cassidy from PAWS in Mullinahone came to the school today to receive a cheque for €185 from student Emma Clancy who raised the sum by organising a bring and buy sale in the school.

Drumming Workshop June 18th. 2008
The ever popular Eddie O'Neill swopped the books for the beat as he brought his impressive array of drums back to St Joseph's. Eddie will be hosting a drumming workshop tomorrow as part of our Open Evening and he is spending two days in the school drumming some rhythm into our students!

Spanish Cooking June 18th. 2008
Chef Helen returned to the school to weave her culinary magic, this time with a Spanish flavour. Paella, tapas and Spanish Omlette were all served up to the salivating Middle Room students. Quite a few parents took up the invitation to join in the feast which was held in library. Our thanks go out to Helen and to Mrs. O'Brien for organising our three cooking days.

Presentation to Mrs Corcoran June 11th. 2008
Sarah Condon, on behalf of the students of the school, presented Mrs Corcoran with a beautiful bunch of flowers to mark her impending retirement. Fr Breen thanked Mrs Corcoran for her many years of loyalty, dedication and expertise and spoke for us all when he wished her a long and happy retirement.

Moving On Ceremony June 11th. 2008
The talents and contributions of our outgoing Sixth Class were celebrated today in a 'Moving On Ceremony' conducted by Fr Breen and attended by parents and families.
Our fifteen most senior students will be sorely missed and we wish them a happy and successful transition to second level.


Bring and Buy Sale June 6th. 2008
Well done to Sixth Class student Emma Clancy for raising the hefty sum of €185 for PAWS in Mullinahone through her Bring and Buy Sale. Together with the girls of the Senior Room Emma organised the whole event. Thank you to all who contributed.

Minister Hanafin June 6th. 2008
Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Mary Hanafin visited the parish today to officially open the new school in Mohober. She also took time to take in the 'Mines of Information' exhibition where she was afforded a guard of honour by the students of St. Joseph's and Slieveardagh N.S. Sixth Class students Kayleigh Moore and Aimee Fahy had the honour of welcoming Minister Hanafin to the exhibition. Congratulations by the way to the staff, students and families of Mohober on the opening of their beautiful new school.

Mines Of Information June 6th. 2008
St Joseph's got to visit the 'Mines Of Information' exhibition in the parish hall. Katie Goodhue met each class group at the door and gave them a guided tour of the exhibition. The children were very excited about seeing their own work being displayed and were interested to see what their friends in the other schools had done. Well done Katie and thank you for involving us in such a wonderful project.

School Tour June 4th. 2008
The entire school decamped to Waterford for the day to take part in the Lets Go Activity Camp based in W.I.T. Despite the rain the children had a great time playing human fussball, crazy golf, obstacle courses and other games. The big hit of the day seemed to be the KMX bikes.

Environmental Talk June 3rd. 2008
Sean O'Farrell an environmentalist and organic farmer came to the school to talk to the children of 2nd to 6th. Class about their local environment and how they might protect it. He brought along samples of plants and mini beasts which he found in the locality and made the children aware of the abundant and diverse wildlife which can be found on their doorsteps.

Green School Day of Action May 30th 2008
The entire school donned rubber gloves as they waged war on litter. The Junior Room tidied the school grounds while the Senior Room looked after the village streets and i'm sure the GAA club appreciate how tidy O'Sullivan Park now is after students from the Middle Room spent two hours collecting litter there. Seventeen bags of rubbish were collected by the students in total. All rubbish was sorted into recyclable and non recyclable rubbish and was collected by the Co. Council.

Italian Cooking May 28th. 2008
It was the turn of the Senior Room to sample the culture of another country when they held their 'Italy Day' in the library. Helen and Mrs. O'Brien were again at hand to help with the cooking while the students showed off their Italy project to their visiting parents.

French Cooking May 21st. 2008
The Junior Room had a great time cooking and tasting French food prepared by chef Helen and Mrs. O'Brien. They learned a lot about France and can't wait to visit it when they are older.

Basketball Begins May 20th. 2008
The ever popular Joe returned to the school to coach basketball. He will come to the school every Tuesday until the end of the year to coach 1st. Class up to 6th. Class

Cumann na mBunscoil Hurling Championship May 20th. 2008
Our hurling team bowed out of this year's championship despite a brave performance in the quarter final against Golden N.S.
The final score in Cashel was Golden 4-5 St. Joseph's 1-6.

Clothes Recycling May 15th. 2008

Lenrec Recycling company visited the school today and collected 35 bags of clothes generously donated by the students, parents and staff of our school. Through this initiative the school was able to earn much needed funding as well as looking after the environment. Our thanks to all who supported us in this.

The Unforgettables May 12th. 2008
The school were invited to the Presentation Secondary School to take in their show The Unforgettables.

Communion May 3rd. 2008
Five students from the school received their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 3rd. in The Church Of The Assumption in Ballingarry. Congratulations to Aiden, Jack, Katie, Maria and Patrick who worked very hard in preparing for their special day. Mention must also be made of the wonderful choir made up of students from St. Joseph's, Slieveardagh and Lisnamrock who were led by Mrs. Egan and accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Lanigan.

Cumann na mBunscoil Hurling Championship May 2nd. 2008
St. Joseph's beat local rivals Slieveardagh NS 6-8 to 4-4 in an entertaining first round match at O'Sullivan Park. Their next match is against Golden NS in Cashel on Tuesday 20th. of May at 1:00.

Planting Seeds April 15th. 2008
Everybody in the Junior Room planted flower seeds. The pots will be watched very carefully for signs of sprouting...

FAI Five -a- side Soccer Competition April 8th. 2008
Three teams of eager soccer players represented the school in this annual competition. Unfortunately none of our teams emereged from their groups but a great time was had by all. The competition was held at Peake Villa FC, Thurles. Many thanks to the parents who attended to lend their support.

Jigsaw Day April 2008
Children in the Junior Room enjoyed Jigsaw Day and made lots of jigsaws - some of which even had 100 pieces!
